Usagi Yojimbo: Jei the Demon of the Black Blade

This is him, the Murderer, the Samurai, the Priest, the Demon...his name is Jei, and he is the wielder of the black bladed spear.

His exact origin is enshrouded by enigma, all that is known is that this Rōnin Wolf, claims to have been possessed by a demon, and seeks the purification of the world through death.  He achieves it through cunning and nearly unmatched fighting prowess and savagery.     Long has he bathed the black spear in the blood of the innocent and the guilty alike, with unnatural speed and procession.  The only one to have stood in his way consistently, is the Rabbit of the West, the Rōnin Warrior Usagi.

Here at the now lifeless encampment of the infamous Neko Cat Ninjas, he stands face to face with that very Rabbit...he helped him from being unfairly outnumbered by making quick work of the mercenary clan, so nothing would interrupt their "Dance."   A dance which like last time...was very nearly their last. 

Who will walk away from this duel, the Rabbit, or the Wolf...

Usagi Yojimbo is a comic book series created by Stan Sakai, an exceptional artist and comic writer who it has been my pleasure to meet in person.  I've loved his work for quite some time, and decided to attempt drawing some of his creations. 

Think Samurai Jack, before there was Samurai Jack, except he's an anthropomorphic rabbit, and take away the future and time traveling magic narrative and gimmick making it raw and realistic, and violent despite the animal characters involved...like a furry version of Last Samurai...and that is essentially Usagi Yojimbo. 

He's crossed over with the Ninja Turtles before a number of times, as well as have his own independent success via his own journey's across feudal Japan, fighting for justice and honor with, and sometimes against friends. 

It's definitely worth a look if you haven't heard of the character before.
