Attack on Titan: The might of Doctor Doom

Description

In the town of Trost, a young man came into town not knowing who he was or where he had come from, only that his name was Otto. Otto was astoundingly good with metallurgy and all things mechanical, his job as a black smith's page was soon transcended as he modified cannons to make them fire straighter, and the gears of the wall to have a more effective immediate drop when closed.

When his memories returned to him he discovered that he came from the wild lands of the Wall Maria and survived a Titan attack, but lost his memory at seeing the things the death and grotesque eating of his family.

This was discovered when he savagely beat a man attempting to abduct and force himself on a young lady to death.  This woman's name was Sharlot Moyer.

He took on the name given to him by the blacksmith that took him in, Otto Savage Von Doom.

"Savage" being due to the rescue he was made famous for.

The young lady he saved was gypsy, also orphaned by the Titans and had successfully fled to the inner wall, only to be attacked by ruffians before Otto revealed himself. The two married some time later, even after he joined the Stationary Guard, and later she bore a son they named Randal Klaven Von Doom.

Before his untimely death at the hands of a malfunctioning powder container, Otto taught Randal his skills of mechanics, metallurgy, and tinkering, seeing that the boy had more of a gnack for it then he.

The boy devised something that could only be described as clockwork as he could make moving parts operate toys until they did what he wished them without him having to be there.

He took his fathers rifle and augmented it to have a spring operated self repeating round, pump action mechanism. He also showed proficiency in chemistry besides due to his mothers books of incantations or black magic which as he put "is simple alchemy, only it is signified by stars and creatures instead of numbers. Still all very boring."

His skill lead him to invent his own version of the grapple harness and it was quickly implemented into use for the Survey Corps and Stationary squads, which he meant to join to honor his father.

While gifted as an engineer and chemist, he was also plagued with purpose, his father's fated accident he never called a death, but a murder, life had murdered him, and the Titan's were life's brutes for hire. His mother who never fully recovered after his fathers passing was put into a mad house after she began performing rituals that frightened their neighbors in her back yard.

Randal never allowed either circumstance to stunt his resolve, but grieved profusely when his mothers asylum was one of the first to be destroyed during the Titan Attack that took Eren's mother. He became a fiercer more composed man, but also one more dedicated to seeing humanity not fall, and to see to it that they one day rose above the Titans and made them as much of a threat as a gnat is to a horse. He even took to wearing his fathers masks he had made for an unfinished suit of light weight armor, as a reminder.

He became known as the masked man of the Survey Corps, and that behind the mask was the face of a devil, either do to some defect or too an accident that happened to his face when his father was blown away in front of him.

Which ever the reason, none but Levi commented about it to his face, to which Doom actually struck up a conversation with the man.

Randal is typically seen going out and testing his devices and potions on Titans kept for experimentation, ones which Hanji loves to observe and finds his machines "irresistible as his voice."

His regard for his fellow man is an odd mix; while he prizes humanity as a species, and as a concept, he holds contempt for those who "do not make the cut" as he puts it.

Those who are not man enough to realize that on their shoulders lies the responsibility to see to it that a greater generation fills their place in the world, deserve no place in the world themselves. Being so he has a considerable disdain for those in authority who shudder at the very mention of a Titan and are quick to abandon their people to them rather then rally to help them escape or fight.

He is a firm believer in a military state or a Monarchy where the King himself is required to fight and puts his people before himself.

While he has made no drastic motions for this himself, with the recent change of events brought on by Eren's transformation into a Titan evoked Doom to state:"The boys resolve was to large to be worn by a human skin, he had to wear one of a Titan to show it's true ferocity."

His regard for Eren Jaeger is one of mild approval, he respects the boys fighting spirit, but knows that his inability to think things through will waste his talent immensely, and is glad that he at least has friends who will prevent that from happening.

Here he is over the body of a fallen Titan, freshly killed, while Sasha and Jean look on, surprised that he was able to take it's head off with one of his machines.

I used to think Doom was a basic villain, the kind you would typically find in kid shows and deserves to rot. But after reading about his past and the reasons why he does the thing he does I'm not to anymore.
